KITWARO BASKET | URU

50,00€

This KITWARO basket is part of the MADE51 collection, made by Burundian refugee women with UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), a program of the United Nations refugee protection organization. This program allows women to return to their communities after sometimes several years in refugee camps in Tanzania.

They become independent and support herself and their family once they return to Burundi.

The URU design, symbolizing ‘Urugendo', the 'Journey' all refugees make to the camp - most fleeing their homes at night, braving the several day trek to Tanzania on foot crossing forests, rivers and mountains.

It’s a traditional product shape used by households in Tanzania to store grains or bring gifts to friends and family. This traditional basket in modern colors will bring elegance to your interior and allow you to store what you want.

For this basket, the artisans use recycled white threads from the “Gunia” cereal bags which will be woven with natural dried herbs.

Product Size: 16cm (w) + 30cm (h)
