This Katakuru basket was handwoven by one women artisan who earn fair and reliable incomes. « Katakuru » means « to pick up » in Swahili, the national language of Tanzania. As such, this Katakuru provides a beautiful option for a hamper for your laundry but also to store household items, toys or baby articles. It can be used a pot cover for your indoor plants. 

For this specific Katakuru, the threads of upcycled  white Gunia grain sacks are intricately woven into the natural grasses of the basket. With it’s vibrant and modern design, this Katakuru will add style and a pop of color to your home.
