MKATE BREAD BASKET

Beautiful bread basket carefully woven by hand by one women artisan in Tanzania. For this basket, locally harvested grasses are dried in the sun and then intricately woven together.

« Mkate » means « bread » in Swahili, the national language of Tanzania. As such, the Mkate Baskets are ideal for serving fresh bread but can also be used as a decorative way to store smaller household items.
